The Archive

One file, one piece.

Every JUE piece leaves the atelier with a single archive entry — its number, its stone, its element, its keeper. Nothing is repeated; nothing is invented.

Caring for the Piece · 养玉之道

Jade is kept alive.

Your piece will arrive with its own care instructions — but the old four habits hold for every stone.

Jade is kept by the skin, never in a drawer. Body warmth is its food.

A slow pass with clean fingers keeps the grease-sheen alive. No cloths, no wax.

Kitchen steam, strong light, hard knocks — keep the stone from what would dull it.

A rinse in clear water, a wipe with a soft palm, a night of rest. That is all jade asks.

Soap, perfume, detergent — they dull the sheen and cloud the water. Water and palm only.

Jade is hard but not invincible; a sharp knock can start a fissure that spreads with time.

A jade left in a box grows dull and brittle. A kept jade must be a worn jade.

Set it beside the bed, not on it. A night of stillness lets the stone settle and breathe.

In idle moments, let the thumb travel the stone’s surface. This is how the grease-sheen is laid — by time, not by effort.

Once a year, hold it to the window in full light and look at it as if for the first time. You will see the year that has passed in its deepening.

Wearing This Piece · 佩戴之序

Six gestures, one bond.

一玉一生 · 六步成缘

I
择时 · Choose the hour

Jade first meets the wrist in stillness — at dawn, or before a door you are about to open. Let the first hour decide the rest.

II
净手 · Cleanse the hands

Wash in clear water, dry on the breath of your palm. The stone must meet only what is clean.

III
贴身 · Wear against the skin

Set it to the pulse, not over the cloth. A jade worn against the heart learns the beat of its keeper.

IV
定线 · Set the cord

The cord is cut to a breath of slack — close enough to be felt, loose enough to turn. It should never pull.

V
初语 · Speak to it

The first days, hold it and tell it one true thing. Old keepers say a jade answers the voice that named it.

VI
传家 · Pass it on

A kept jade is never sold. When the day comes, it is given — with the story, the warmth, and the name of who wore it before.

Questions · 常见问答

Asked about this piece.

知无不言 · 言无不尽

Yes. We swear each rough to a single piece. The archive number on your certificate will never be repeated — the design is destroyed after carving.

Three ways: browse the seven boards and follow your instinct; ask the fortune page with your birth hour; or commission — we read your elements and carve to them.

Eight to twelve weeks for a single piece, from reading the stone to the grease-sheen. A full set may take a season. We never rush a stone.

Every piece ships with its NGTC appraisal, the carver’s mark, and a single archive entry — number, weight, origin, story.

Insured art logistics with signature handover, in a tamper-sealed silk-lined case. Full replacement insurance at the declared value.

Unworn pieces may be returned within fourteen days in their sealed case. Commissioned pieces are carved for you alone and are final.

The opposite — it needs to be worn. Four habits: wear close, polish by hand, avoid heat and chemicals, rinse in clear water.

The grease-sheen comes with time and the wearer’s warmth — months of wearing, a lifetime of deepening. It cannot be rushed or bought.

Yes — a single line, front or reverse, in seal script. We ask that it be short: a name, a date, a vow.

By appointment only, at our three houses. Write to atelier@jue.studio with your city and the piece you have in mind.

A kept jade is not an investment — it is a companion. That said, the house has never once resold a piece below the archive price, and the old families’ jades have outlived every market.

Your certificate carries the NGTC appraisal, the carver’s mark, and one archive entry. Write to us with the archive number and we will confirm it from the ledger — a number is never repeated.

Yes, at our Suzhou and Jieyang houses by appointment. Wear it a while; a piece should choose you as much as you choose it.

The sheen deepens by wearing, not by polishing. A rinse, a palm-dry, a night of rest — and the patience to let the stone age with you.

For commissioned pieces, the house accepts a three-part schedule: on order, on design approval, and on delivery. The stone is reserved to you from the first payment.

Bring it home to us. A broken jade is not an ending — the house re-carves it into a smaller form, so the same stone keeps its keeper.
